Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constables, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, MCHD, and Magnolia Fire responded. They arrived on the scene to find a multi-passenger golf cart on its side in the 29000 block of Champions Drive in Magnolia. The 11-year-old boy was suffering from a severe head injury. CPR was immediately started and he was transported to Tomball Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. According to witnesses, a teen was driving the golf cart on the road with several other juveniles on it. The cart rolled onto its side causing the child to hit the pavement. The driver suffered minor injuries and was also transported. DPS is investigating the crash. In Texas a driver’s license is not required to drive a golf cart on a public roadway it the speed limit is below 35 mph, the cart does not go over 25mph, and the cart has a slow-moving emblem on the rear. However several cities such as Galveston, Port Aransas, and others have passed city ordinances requiring drivers to be licensed and have insurance.
