Just after 6 am Saturday a Splendora Officer attempted to stop a black 2018 Toyota southbound o I-69 at East River. The vehicle which was clocked at 86 mph sped up to 130 and a pursuit started. The driver exited I-69 at Creekwood and slammed into the guardrail. Both driver and passenger fled into the woods. Inside the vehicle which was registered in Leesville, Louisiana they found drugs and several cash drawers. A perimeter was set and a search started. The driver left his cell phone and Louisiana driver’s license behind and was identified. A short time later a resident spotted a black male breaking into a new home on Oak Wood Drive in Charterwood. Units responded. They did learn he severely cut himself on glass attempting to gain entry. He also lost a shoe. He is described as a black male, 6 feet with a muscle shirt and glasses. He was last seen in the area behind the Water Park at SH 242 and I-69. About noon a sighting was made of the passenger in Patton Village. He was encountered at the YMCA building and fled into the woods. He was wearing a tie-dye type shirt and faded jeans. He is a black male with a bushy afro. The vehicle was registered to a woman in Leesville and is believed to be stolen. If you spot either of the males call 911. Do not leave any keys in vehicles or weapons in your vehicle.
