A 27-year-old man drowned Saturday night in Lake Conroe after he jumped off a rented pontoon for a swim and never resurfaced, according to police. Witnesses onboard the pontoon called police after being unable to find the man in the Atkins Creek Area of the lake around 7 p.m. authorities said. He had gone in without a life jacket and could not stay afloat, authorities said.
